Skinned Knees Creative, November 2009 – Present
Creative Director: Specializing in strategic planning, brand management and product development, web design, Games, DVD authoring and consulting. High profile brands/companies including: HIT Entertainment, Reel FX, NCircle Entertainment, The Wiggles, Propeller Consulting, 20th Century Fox, Fox Faith, Jim Henson, Taffy Entertainment, Provident Films, Sky Ranch Camps, and movie development for Lumenas Studios.
Key Challenge: Work with clients and contractors across different states. Manage creative workflow, schedules, budgets to achieve the best solutions and efficiencies.
Approach: Find out clients program and expectations. Determine creative needs that will provide the best solutions with time and budget. This includes planning, scheduling as well as adapting my formula for work allocation and team roles.
Result: Clients utilize me as their creative source. Eliminating the overhead of hiring
their own creative staff while utilizing my experience/expertise in managing
their creative. Relationship building is the key to success.
Reel FX Studios, June 2008 – November 2009
Art Director: Played a pivotal role in the creation of the creative print division for Reel FX. Lead in developing the Creative department, budget management, hiring staff in response to timing and key deliverables, and building creative brand plans for Reel FX and its brands including: BOZ, The Green Bear Next Door and NASCAR Jr.
Key Challenge: Create a brand idenity that could hit the ground running and make the biggest impact quickly while managing cost effectively. Built website to immediately begin generating income for the brand.
Approach: Work directly with creators to design a creative brand approach that built upon the 3D asset available. Working closely with animators to bring my designs to a print ready media. This key data was essential in streamlining a strong vision for the brand.
Result: Designed creative assets that drove sales of BOZ, The Green Bear Next Door brand to be the #3 selling children’s brand at Christian retail after only 18 months in the marketplace.
HIT Entertainment, November 2001 – June 2008
Art Director: Provided Creative leadership for brands that generated over $180 million+ in annual global retail volume. Directed the creative aspects of multiple brands and thier development and support Globally. These territories included USA, UK and South America. Managed staff, budgets and projects. Including development of identity, style guides, packaging, product development and approvals, website design and production, advertising and marketing in traditional mediums such as print and television as well as digital platforms, and trade shows including booth design and construction. Brands include: Barney the Dinosaur, Bob the Builder, Thomas the Tank Engine, Angelina Ballerina, Kipper, Rubbadubbers, Wishbone, Pingu, Oswald, The Wiggles.
Key Challenge: Creating visual assets for Hit’s 10+ brands, as well as new brand development. This included 200+ active projects supporting advertising, web site design/support, online store, gaming, DVD/Home Entertainment, style guides, brand development and trade shows.
Approach: Create fun and impactful designs that jump off store shelves in a saturated market. Follow the products from start to finish, insuring accuracy at all levels. Build upon each project to make it better than the last.
Result: Creative designs and marketing for properties that generated more than US$1 billion in retail sales between 2001 and 2008.
